Smielts_Fish_curry (Matthi/Nethili Meen)


Ingredients:
Smielt/Anchovies - 10 nos
Coconut - 1/2 cup or 3 tbsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Coriander powder - 3 tsp
Ginger & Garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
Round Red chilli - 3 nos
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
Tamarind - 1 lemon size
Curry leaves - few
Green chilli - 2 nos
Salt - to taste
Oil - 1 tbsp

Method:
* Soak tamarind in 2 cups of water.
* Keep the fish in salt and Turmeric added water and wash it well.
* Grind the coconut well and keep it aside.
* In pan add oil, once it hot add mustard seeds, Fennugreek seeds,red chilli and curry leaves.
* Then add coconut paste and cook it for 5 min.
* Now add Turmeric, Chilli, and coriander powders and mix it well.
* Then G&G paste and fry until the raw smell is gone.
* Now add the Tamarind juice. and Let it boil.Once gravy is ready, break the Green chillies and add it.
* Once the water reduce well add Washed fish and keept it for a while in high flame.
* Add little curry leave and nalla ennai.
* Serve it hot.
