Pulicha Keerai (Gongura) Masiyal


Ingredients:
Gongura with the thick stem removed - 1 bunch
Green chillies slit - 4 nos
Garlic cloves - 4 nos
Small onions chopped - 10 nos
Red dry chillies broken into pieces - 2 nos
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
A pinch of tumeric powder
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tsp

Method:
* Clean the gongura and cook with water,Garlic cloves and Green chillies.When the leaves are tender and soft, drain water and make it cool. Grind it to a coarse paste in mixcy and keep it aside.
* Heat oil in a fry pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal and the dried chillies. Then add chopped onions and saute well for a few minutes till the onions are transparent and soft.
* Now add the coarse paste, tumeric powder and salt to taste and stir well.
* Stir nicely and remove.


It goes well with hot rice and dosa :)

  1. Gongura Pickle / Ambade ka achar is one of my favorite pickles. Especially the pickle made in Andhra style has an everlasting taste. Thank you for showing the delicious recipe. I will definitely try this weekend.
