Tomato_Rasam


Ingredients:
Tomatoes (ripe one) - 2 nos
Samll onion - 5 nos
Garlic (spit) - 5 nos
curry leaves - few
Red Chilli - 1 nos
Mustard seeds - few
Tamarind - small gooseberry sized ball
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Rasam powder - 1 1/2 tsp (available ready made also)
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Sambar powder - 1 tsp
Hing - a pinch
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to taste

To Grind:
Cumin seeds /Jeera- 2 tsp
Pepper corn - 10 nos
Red chilli - 1
Garlic - 4 nos (with peel)
Curry leaves - few

Method:
* Soak tamarind in warm water and extract its juice (1 cup). Throw the pulp.Add 2 more cups of water,Mashed a tomato into this water using by hand. Then add half of the ground paste (from above "To grind"),chilli powder,rasam powder,coriander pwr,sambar pwr and salt to taste. keep it aside.
* In a kadai heat oil,add one by one - mustard,urad dal,turmeric pwr, curry leaves and red chilli. Then add Ground paste let it fry for a while. Then add garlic and onion.fry for a min.
* Then add a tomato (chopped),salt. Let it cook well.
* Then add Tamarind mix water into this. Bring one boil. Switch of the stove and add Coriander leaves.
* serve it hot with white rice.
